Where Erasmus Was Right: Exerting My Will

Eramus once said, “When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes.” He said a lot of other things too, but Martin Luther made him look foolish for doing so, so I won’t address that issue today. All I wanted to tell you is that I exerted my will and bought some more books today, via Amazon.com! But even then my will was not free, it was influenced by this book review by Tony Kummer on The Wit and Wisdom of Pastor Joe Brumbelow, and this email I received from the Ron Paul 2008 campaign announcing Dr. Paul’s new book The Revolution: A Manifesto, which is being described as a “defense of the principles” for which he has been fighting for throughout his many years as a tireless public servant. I find it quite interesting as well, that I was converted to the Ron Paul Revolution through reading another manifesto, by the uber-intellectual (and mildly prophetic) Francis Schaeffer entitled A Christian Manifesto. Perhaps the connection was not as elusive as I originally thought…

And unsurprisingly, both books have to do with Texas! Joe Brumbelow was a Texas preacher, and Ron Paul is a Texas legend.
Can it get any better? (rhetorical tool….rhetorical tool…lol)

  • Hank,
I hope you like the book. I’m still trying to get my wife to cook one of the recipes out of the back! Let me know what you think.

  • I’ll definitely let you know brother! And I’ll try to my best to round up a girl that’d be willing to cook one of those recipes for me too! :D

  • Brother Hank, in fact it can get any better.

Ron Paul and Joe Brumbelow are not only both from Texas, but they’re both from Lake Jackson, Texas. Mr. Brumbelow’s son Mark and his family were good friends with my family back when I was a kid. We went to the same church as Pastor Joe.

And as you know, Dr. Ron Paul delivered my sister from the womb 21 years ago…
