Take a minute and check out this very intriguing link that has worked up a statistical ticker for global births, deaths, abortions, population growth, species extinction, deforestation, and a handful of other things. The main link shows the total from year to date, but you can also click to see the stats for the month, week, day, and now. The latter link was the most powerful for me, especially for the abortion number (found on the bottom left of the page).
